WHAT IS AN AMERICAN BULLY?

The American Bully breed was created in 1990 and gained recognition and establishment in 2004, per the inception of the A.B.K.C. The American Bully breed has been selectively bred to give America’s breed a new direction and outlet. Like with the American Staffordshire Terrier, all the positive characteristics of the breed’s ancestry were kept like loyalty, stability with humans and other physical attributes; but traits of dog aggression and gameness were bred out of the breed because the breed had no future and purpose for those traits. What differentiates this breed from the American Staffordshire Terrier is the physical appearance. This breed is built with heavier bone structure and a “Bullier” build. A reinvented breed was formed with the purpose of being the ultimate companion breed, and this breed is the “American Bully.”

WHAT IS A POCKET BULLY?

THE POCKET BULLY REFERS TO THE HEIGHT OF THE BULLY. THE HEIGHT REQUIREMENTS ARE DIFFERENT FOR MALES AND FEMALES. A FEMALE POCKET BULLY IS 16" AND UNDER, WHILE A MALE POCKET BULLY IS 17" AND UNDER. THE MEASUREMENTS ARE TAKEN AT THE WHITHERS. AS THE DOGS SHOULD BE COMPACT, THERE IS NO SET WEIGHT FOR A POCKET BULLY.

AT WHAT AGE CAN YOUR NEW PUPPY COME HOME?

THE STATE OF FLORIDA REQUIRES THAT THE PUP IS AT LEAST 8 WEEKS OLD BEFORE THE PUPPY CAN BE SOLD. AT THE AGE OF 8 WEEKS, THE PUP IS TAKEN TO THE VET TO RECEIVE THEIR SECOND SET OF BOOSTER SHOTS, AND RECEIVE THEIR HEALTH CERTIFICATE. ONCE THEY HAVE THEIR HEALTH CERTIFICATE, THEY ARE THEN READY FOR THEIR NEW HOMES.

WHAT IS A HEALTH CERTIFICATE?

THE STATE OF FLORIDA IS ONE OF THE ONLY STATES THAT LOOKS OUR FOR THE BUYER. BEFORE A PUPPY CAN BE SOLD IN THE STATE OF FLORIDA, THE SELLER IS REQUIRED TO TAKE THE PUPPY TO A LICENSED VET, TO OBTAIN A HEALTH CERTIFICATE. THE VET IS REQUIRED TO COMPLETE A STATE FORM. THE HEALTH CERTIFICATE REQUIRES SEVERAL THINGS TO BE DONE. THE VET MUST CERTIFY THAT THE PUP IS UP TO DATE ON DE-WORMING, AS WELL AS VACCINES. THE VACCINES GIVEN TO THE PUP MUST BE LISTED ON THE CERTIFICATE, AS WELL AS THE BRAND OF THE VACCINE, & THE EXPIRATION DATE OF THE VACCINES. THE VET MUST ALSO COMPLETE A FECAL TEST, CHECKING FOR PARASITES, SUCH AS HOOK WORMS, ROUND WORMS, WHIP WORMS, AND OTHER PARASITES. THE FECAL MUST BE CLEAR OF ALL PARASITES IN ORDER TO OBTAIN A HEALTH CERTIFICATE. THE VET MUST ALSO CHECK FOR HEART MURMURS AND HERNIAS. IF THE PUP IS HEALTHY AND PASSES THE FECAL EXAM, HE IS AWARDED HIS HEALTH CERTIFICATE. IF THERE ARE ISSUES THAT DO NOT AFFECT THE HEALTH OF THE PUPPY, BUT ARE ONLY COSMETIC ISSUES, SUCH AS AN UMBILICAL HERNIA, THE VET WILL MAKE A NOTE OF THIS FIND ON THE HEALTH CERTIFICATE. EACH HEALTH CERTIFICATE IS GIVEN IT'S OWN SERIAL NUMBER. THERE ARE 4 COPIES OF EVERY CERTIFICATE, 1 FOR THE STATE OF FLORIDA, 1 FOR THE VET RECORDS, 1 FOR THE BREEDER'S RECORD, AND A SIGNED ORGINAL TO GO WITH THE PUP TO HIS NEW HOME.

HOW DO YOU GET YOUR PUPPY?
